Pilates Self Care Saturday: Nourish to Flourish

Sunshine, simplicity, and wellness – pineapple ice cream that aligns with your Pilates lifestyle.
A refreshing bowl of homemade pineapple ice cream, perfect for a Pilates-inspired summer treat.

I’ve just returned from Italy, the beautiful birthplace of gelato. And if you have ever looked closely at a traditional gelato recipe, you will know it is full of sugar, rich cream, and quite a few eggs. Delicious, yes. But not exactly what you would call a wellness choice.

So for this Self Care Saturday, I wanted to create something different. A healthier alternative. A way to satisfy that sweet craving without undoing all the benefits of the Pilates lifestyle we work so hard to promote.

A Healthier Scoop

Our three ingredient pineapple ice cream is made with frozen pineapple, unsweetened almond milk, and non fat Greek yoghurt. You can add a little honey or a sugar substitute if needed, but it is naturally sweet and refreshing on its own. No added sugars, no eggs, and it comes together in just five minutes.

This is what Pilates self care looks like. It is not about restriction. It is about finding nourishing alternatives that support how we move, how we feel, and how we live. It is about creating habits that reflect the balance and awareness we bring to the studio.

Why It Matters

When we as Pilates teachers embrace this approach, we inspire our clients to do the same. They begin to understand that wellness is not just about what we do during class but also the choices we make before and after. What we eat, how we rest, and how we care for ourselves all play a role in the bigger picture of health.

So on this Self Care Saturday, skip the sugar crash and try something that aligns with your goals. A small change like this can lead to bigger shifts in energy, clarity, and focus.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks

  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk

  • ½ cup non fat Greek yoghurt

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar substitute (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add the frozen pineapple, almond milk, Greek yoghurt, and vanilla extract to a blender or food processor.

  2. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times.

  3. Taste the mixture and if you would like it sweeter, add the honey or sugar substitute and blend again.

  4. Serve immediately for a soft serve texture or freeze for 15 to 20 minutes if you prefer a firmer consistency.

Servings

Makes 2 servings

Wellness tip

This recipe has 0 to 1 WW point per serving depending on whether you use the sweetener.

Enjoy your bowl of pineapple goodness. Your body and your practice will thank you.

Happy Self Care Saturday
