Let’s talk about soda. That bubbly, sugary, sweet stuff that seems to have its own gravitational pull. You’re trying to be healthy, but there it is, staring at you from across the room. It's like it knows you can't resist that "ahhhh" sound when you pop the can open.
But before you get too cozy with that fizzy temptation, let’s break it down: Soda is not your friend. I mean, sure, it’ll come to your parties, hang out at the BBQ, and seem all fun and innocent—but behind that sweet exterior, it’s plotting to wreak havoc on your body.
Coca-Cola and Pepsi—we’ve all been there. They were the life of the party back in the day, but once you know what's really going on, you might want to reconsider that friendship. Did you know that Coca-Cola’s original formula used actual coca leaves? Yep. The good old days when your soda had a little something extra. Not the best health choice back then, and certainly not now.
Then there’s the sugar—a LOT of sugar. We're talking enough to make your dentist cringe from a mile away. And don’t get me started on the acidity—it’s like your teeth are dissolving while you sip. Makes you wonder if we should start selling Pilates classes for teeth... engage your core while rinsing!
But hey, maybe you’ve thought, "I'll just switch to carbonated water, surely that’s better, right?" Well, yes... kind of. It’s definitely a step up from soda, but let’s not kid ourselves—it’s not the elixir of youth. Still, if it helps you ditch the full-on sugar bomb, I'll take it. A win’s a win!
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "But Michael, it’s just one soda!" And sure, every now and then, I suppose we can live a little. But if you’re regularly having a full-blown love affair with cola, it might be time to hit the breaks.
Remember: You are what you drink! So, next time you reach for that soda, ask yourself, "Do I want to feel like a can of fizzy sugar, or do I want to feel like the strong, hydrated Pilates pro I know I can be?" I know which one I’d choose!
So, in short, stay fizzy, stay fun—but maybe not from a can of soda.
Cheers (with water), Michael
