Pilates Soulful Sunday: Choosing the Present Over Fear

Lately I’ve been thinking about how much energy we waste worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet. Fear and anxiety pull us forward into a future that doesn’t exist, or drag us back into things we can’t change. The truth is, the only place we ever live is now.
That became crystal clear a couple of weeks ago when we were involved in a car accident. In an instant, what had been a packed day of clients, sessions, meetings, and evening plans disappeared. Life changed without warning, and we’re still dealing with the physical and emotional impact.
Since then, I’ve noticed how grounding it feels when I pause, breathe, and move. Sometimes it’s a simple stretch between tasks, a walk, or even moving around the kitchen while the kettle boils. Other times it’s singing out loud or simply observing the rhythm of my breath.
It doesn’t matter what form it takes. What matters is being present. These small moments are all we truly have, and they’re worth treating as precious.
