Self Care Saturday: Stepping into autumn with fresh air and movement

Crisp fallen maple leaves overlap, textured veins glowing in soft diffused light.

This weekend feels like a gift. With a bank holiday on Monday across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and autumn just beginning to show itself, Saturday is the perfect day to pause and make space for yourself. Before winter’s shorter days and heavier layers arrive, use today to recharge and set a rhythm that will carry you through the new season.

A Saturday plan for self care

Start your morning with something simple. A quiet cup of tea or coffee, taken slowly, sets the tone for the day. Step outside soon after. Even a twenty minute walk in the fresh air helps reset energy levels and clears the head. Notice the signs of the season around you, the changing colours and the softer light.

Later in the day, give yourself a short movement session at home or in the studio. Flowing spinal mobility, gentle rotations, and standing sequences that connect feet and hips are ideal. Keep it light, keep it easy, and enjoy how the body opens when movement is guided by breath.

In the afternoon, make time for nature. A walk in the park, a stroll along the coast, or even time in the garden can give you a sense of calm that lasts into the week. Take a flask, wear comfortable shoes, and give yourself permission to slow down.

As the evening arrives, wind down with a simple stretch on the floor. Open the chest, lengthen the spine, and let the breath ease you into stillness. A gentle end to the day helps prepare you for restful sleep and a balanced start to the coming week.

A reminder

Self care does not have to be complicated. This Saturday, think fresh air, simple movement, and quiet moments. Let the season guide you and enjoy the balance that comes with it.
