Pilates Thoughtful Tuesday: How We Speak to Ourselves

If we spoke to our friends the way we speak to ourselves, would they stay?
That question always makes me pause.
Because the truth is, our internal dialogue has power. It shapes how we feel, how we move through the day, how we show up in relationships, and how we deal with challenges. The quiet voice in our head can be our greatest supporter or our harshest critic.
The words we whisper to ourselves matter.
Confidence doesn’t always come from achievement. Often, it starts with how we speak to ourselves when we fall short.Contentment isn’t always about getting everything we want. Sometimes, it’s about offering ourselves compassion when things don’t go to plan.
So this Pilates Tuesday, take a moment to notice your self-talk.
Are you kind to yourself when you make a mistake?Do you speak with encouragement or criticism when things feel hard?Would you say those same words to someone you love?
Changing how we speak internally doesn’t happen overnight but awareness is the first step. Replace “I’m so bad at this” with “I’m learning.”Swap “I can’t believe I messed that up” for “I’ll do better next time.”
Gentle words build stronger foundations. And you deserve to feel supported by the one voice that’s with you all day long — your own.
