Pilates Soulful Sunday: Stay Kind and Stay Centred

A crisp desk calendar shows May 12th, symbolising a fresh Monday and new beginnings
Monday the 12th arrives—time to reset, stay kind, and move forward with purpose.

As we close another week and gently open the door to a new one, it’s a perfect moment to pause. In our world as Pilates teachers, we pour so much of ourselves into guiding others—into helping them move, breathe, and find strength. It’s rewarding, but let’s be honest: it can also be draining. We give a lot. And we feel a lot.

This week’s reminder, simply and powerfully, is this:

"Never stop being a good person no matter how bad someone else treats you. Their words and their actions reflect who they are, not who you are."

It’s a beautiful thought, and one that’s essential when you’re in a profession rooted in service. Whether it’s a difficult client, a misunderstanding with a friend, or a moment where someone’s energy just doesn’t sit right with you, we need to protect our inner peace. We need to stay grounded in who we are.

In Pilates, we talk about centre. Not just the physical core, but the emotional one too. That place where we feel strong, supported, and calm. As you prepare for the new week—teaching classes, working one-to-one, dealing with emails, family, friends—wrap yourself in a little protective layer of kindness. Kindness for others, yes. But also kindness for yourself.

Take five minutes today. Roll down slowly. Breathe in deeply. Feel your spine lengthen. Remind yourself: You are doing good work. You are making a difference. And you are enough.

Let next week come as it may. Just stay kind.
